Providing for America’s real defense needs is expensive enough without doubling the military budget to make seven additional and unnecessary F-22 fighter jets.

I’ve never made any secret of the fact that I’m an auto industry analyst only in the most general sense of the term. In other words, I know what I know and I know some people who know what I don’t know. As they know, I need a good three or four renditions of the

The fourth round of the 2009 Formula Drift Championship is in the books and what a scorcher it was. I think I’m supposed to write some sort of witty quip about the triple digit temps here, but truth be told my brain is still somewhat melty. And not from the heat, but rather the stunning points shakeup that went down in Vegas. Coming into Sin City Darren McNamara was leading in points but a mechanical with his Falken Tire Sears Auto Center Sky finished his weekend before it even started. Another shocking DNQ was that of 2005 champion, Rhys Millen. Just when we thought the points chase couldn’t be flipped any more Tanner Foust goes in it to win it after a rare DNQ at round three. Hit the video to see it all. And no matter what Tanner and Stephan may say, I am not a pussy, their NASCAR V-8 just happens to scare me a little bit, that’s all.

We’d heard rumors that Hyundai’s Equus luxury sedan was being considered for U.S. sale, but nobody knew for sure. According to Inside Line , Hyundai CEO John Krafcik has now confirmed that the Korean flagship will sell on our shores. Krafcik told IL that the success of the smaller Hyundai Genesis had paved the way for an American Equus. We’re expecting the American-spec Equus to employ the same 4.6-liter V-8 as the Genesis sedan, potentially alongside a V-6, and to sticker close to $60,000. Look for around 5000 copies of the luxo-sedan in U.S. dealerships by summer 2010.
